Handel's Messiah

For those of you who HATE orchestras and choirs, this is just going to be another boring performance of something you are tired of hearing. For those of you who love Classical Music and the undoubted Inspiration of “Messiah”, you will delight in this performance.

By Far, his has to be my Favorite performance. This HAS to be how those attending a performance heard it, with instruments that were contemporary with the early 1700s. There is just a small chamber orchestra, playing for voices that knew how to enunciate each and every word. Instead of loudly singing each note with the gusto of profound voices, the blend here is amazing, which is what I would expect from Voces8, who just happen to be my absolute FAVORITE blend of voices. The soloists, instead of showcasing how great they can sing, gave performances that gave preference to specifically enunciating each word, so it could be understood, and truly bless the people listening. I was enraptured as I listened to the performance of the Chamber Orchestra, as well as the expertise of each vocalist. What a REFRESHING change from every other performance of “Messiah” I have ever heard, and I have gone through 70 years’ worth.

Internationally acclaimed vocal group VOCES8 headline the Academy of Ancient Music's performance of Handel's beloved oratorio Messiah, recorded live at the Chapel of Trinity College, Cambridge.
